E-learning will become a tool for successful staff development – this was the unanimous view of the experts at the 2001 Europrofession Forum, and also the result of discussions with participants.
Practical examples were used to present the benefits of internet/intranet-based learning and efficient knowledge management, and to demonstrate recommendations and trends for the future. Changes to professional training as a result of the arrival of e-learning have also been tackled by trade unions, as discussed by Jens Vojta (ver.di, Berlin) along with the issues of regulating working and learning hours and leisure and learning hours.
The conclusion of this staff development event:
Computers will not replace trainers, but trainers with computers might replace trainers without computers!
